Laughter Yoga

Who doesn't love a good laugh? We all know that laughter is a fantastic way to lift your mood and to relieve stress. How much laughter do you hear in your staffroom?

Laughter Yoga is a unique practice that takes the playfulness of laughing and combines it with yoga breathing exercises.

Laughter Yoga is  becoming a choice of training for workplaces looking to boost staff wellness. It is not only about the laughter. It is about finding ways of becoming more resourceful in all dealings in life and at work.

Laughter Yoga is a practice where we reveal our authentic self - where we disconnect from our ego without the need to perform or to impress others. Laughter Yoga gives us  the opportunity to genuinely connect with other people while listening to what they need, even if it is simply through observing each individual for a moment or two. It is also a way to make genuine human connections that go to our very core of what it is to be human.

Spencer is a Certified and Accredited Laughter Yoga Leader through Laughter University - the organisation run by Dr Madan Kataria, the founder of Laughter Yoga.

Laughter Yoga Session

Your laughter yoga sessions starts with gentle warm-up techniques which include stretching, chanting, clapping, eye contact and body movement, to help break down inhibitions and encourage a sense of playfulness.

We then move onto breathing exercises to prepare the lungs for laughter and the ‘laughter exercises’ encourage staff to be playful with their imaginations and express themselves through laughter. All of this is interspersed with breathing exercises.

One session of Laughter Yoga  will be sufficient to develop fully physiological benefits, including lower stress levels, increased alertness, improve the immune system and improve mental resilience.

Laughter Yoga is fantastic at combating stress and is great for good overall mental health. The practice of Laughter Yoga changes your breath. Suddenly the breath becomes deep and healthy, exchanging air deeply into the body instead of simply skimming the surface with a shallow breath.  The development  of both the control and efficiency of breath is hugely beneficial to people in terms of exercise, voice control and overall wellness..

And of course, it's great fun and an amazing way to relax and recharge.

Yoga Laughter sessions are 60 minutes in length. Participants are invited to wear comfortable clothing to enable free movement. There no yoga poses/stretches (asanas) so it is suitable for people of all physical fitness abilities.  Book your session today.
